Launch Event Overview

The event will serve as a platform for the launch of the EBRD’s new EU-funded “Resource Efficiency” Programme. This programme aims to act as a driving force for sustainability through targeted support for the private sector in Lebanon. The event will also serve to present the ongoing Innovation Programme and showcase the milestones that this programme has achieved since its launch in 2023.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the EBRD) and the European Union (the EU) are bolstering their support for Lebanon’s private sector with a new advisory programme that aims to help SMEs foster resource efficiency practices and promote circularity measures.  

The Bank will deploy EU funds to support SMEs through three main tools: capacity building, tailored advisory services to companies and grants to adopt technologies and solutions to enhance companies’ sustainability practices. 

By combining these tools, significant impact is expected to be achieved in helping companies in the industrial sector – with a focus on the food and beverage value chain - become more sustainable and reduce their carbon emissions. These actions are expected to provide concrete advantages for the enterprises, increasing their competitive edge and allowing them to gain market share, thus eventually growing and creating additional jobs, while contributing to a more sustainable socio-economic development of the country.
